Our name data
Baby Name Matcher combines a name catalogue with published baby-name statistics. Historical coverage and available name details vary. The app is independent and is not endorsed by the organisations below.
United Kingdom
Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Sources: Office for National Statistics (England and Wales), National Records of Scotland (Scotland), and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Northern Ireland). © Crown copyright.
Ireland

United States
The name catalogue includes names from the U.S. Social Security Administration national baby-name dataset. Government statistics are public-domain material under the SSA copyright policy. U.S. names in the catalogue do not imply a U.S. trend series is available.
How we present the data
We import and normalise published records for searching and comparison, associate name spellings with catalogue entries, and display available ranks and counts. The presentation differs from the original tables. Suppressed or missing observations are not estimates of zero births. Meanings and origins are descriptive name information, separate from the official birth statistics.
